08. Morphological Characters :
08.1. Habit : An evergreen densely foliaceous tree with aromatic bark
and leaves
08.2. Leaves : Small to medium ( 4 -12 x 2-6 cm), Simple, exstipulate,
mostly opposite but rarely sub opposite, coreaceous,
oblong, lanceolate, glabrous, acuminate, mostly with three
nerves changing into five.
08.3. Flowers : Many (16-24 is the usual number in a single branchlet of
panicle)small (1.3cm), white, bisexual, hypogynous in
subterminal panicle. Perianth tube short, funnel shaped,
lobes six.
08.4. Androecium : Stamens-9, in two whorls, outer –6 and inner-3, opposite
to perianth lobes, anthers 4 celled, introse.
08.5. Gynoecium : Ovary sessile, unicellular, superior, unilocular with single
